Disable Audio in Yahoo Messenger
The Yahoo! Messenger service enables you to interact with other Yahoo! users via chat, plus you can also use its Yahoo! Voice feature that allows you to talk with other Yahoo! Messenger users for free as long as you have a headset or a microphone and speakers. Yahoo messenger can be installed on Windows XP, Vista and in Windows 7.
Yahoo! Voice is automatically included with Yahoo! Messenger and you cannot disable it. However, if for any reason you are looking to disable Yahoo! Voice to stop the sound of an incoming voice call, you can accomplish this through the "Alerts" and "Sounds" settings.
Instructions
- Login to your Yahoo! Messenger account.
- Click on the "Messenger" tab displayed on the upper-left corner of the Yahoo! Messenger window.
- Click the "Preferences" option displayed on the drop-down menu.
- Click on "Categories" and select the "Alerts and Sounds" option displayed in the categories list.
- Click to uncheck the checkbox displayed beside the "I receive and incoming voice call" option. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes. Now when you get calls, you will not be prompted by the sound.
