Yahoo! Messenger is an advertisement-supported instant messaging client and associated protocol provided by Yahoo!. Yahoo! Messenger is provided free of charge and can be downloaded and used with a generic "Yahoo! e-mail ID". It also allows user to access other Yahoo! services, such as Yahoo! Mail, where users can be automatically notified when they receive new email.

Yahoo! Messenger has designed with a feature that allows you to use any computer or laptop to receive phone calls and voice messages. It works like a VOIP, but offers users more flexibility without any long term commitments.

 Instructions

  1. Download Yahoo! Messenger version 7.5 or higher from the Yahoo! website and install according to the instructions.
  2. Open Yahoo! Messenger once the installation is complete. Sign up for a new account or sign in to your existing account.
  3. Select the "Phone In" option. This will open your browser and take you to Yahoo! Voice account.
  4. Select the "Get a Number" button. Choose the home country for your phone number.
  5. Choose your area code and select a phone number from the list. If you do not like the phone numbers listed select "More Options."
  6. Decide whether to pay monthly or annually for the service.
  7. Set up the language for your voice mail and press "Sign-up."
  8. Select your payment options and pay for service.
  9. Return to Yahoo! Messenger. Search the tool bar for the "Actions" option. Scroll down to "Call Setup" and follow the Yahoo! Call Setup Assistant prompts.
You can no Start receiving voice messages and phone calls from now onwards. Yahoo messenger can be installed in Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7
