MSN Messenger Backgrounds

A custom background is like interior decorating for your MSN Messenger window. It gives you the comforting feeling of coming home every time you sign in to your MSN Messenger account. You probably have a favorite background that you use all the time and love.

When the urge for variety strikes you, try changing your MSN Messenger backgrounds. Follow these steps to find out how.

  1. Sign in to MSN Messenger
  2. Select "Actions."
  3. Choose "Personalize Messenger" from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click on "Backgrounds."
  5. View all of your background choices. The backgrounds are hosted on an outside Web site called Kiwee. MSN Messenger will automatically direct you there when you click "Backgrounds." There are lots of backgrounds to choose from, so take your time and browse thoroughly.
  6. Pick a background to use. Some of the backgrounds will cost a nominal fee, while others are free. Click on the one that you want.
  7. Click "Download."
  8. Enter your MSN email address and click "Next."
  9. Relax while your new background downloads to your computer.
Enjoy your new background. You will see it the next time you have an instant message conversation with someone on MSN Messenger.

Tips & Warnings
  1. If you find yourself needing further information on how to change MSN Messenger backgrounds, pay a visit to the MSN Help page.
  2. If you plan to change your MSN Messenger backgrounds frequently, you may want to consider a membership to Kiwee. Kiwee is the official host of MSN Messenger backgrounds. For a small fee each month, you can download all of the backgrounds and other add-ons you want for your MSN Messenger account. It's more economical than paying a fee per background download if you get more than one background a month, plus you have the convenience of not having to pay every time you want a new background.
  3. Changing your MSN Messenger password frequently can thwart computer hackers and helps prevent identity theft. It's a good policy to change your password several times a year at a minimum. The more your password changes, the harder it is for would-be criminals to figure it out and break into your account.
  4. MSN Messenger  can be installed in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
