Change Where Firefox Downloads Files To
By default, Firefox downloads files either to the Desktop or to the last location that they were saved to, such as the Downloads folder. However, you might have your own ideas about where you'd like Firefox to put your files. This how-to explains how to get Firefox to behave as you'd like and specify a custom download directory.
This article will help you to change the location for Firefox downloads.
Instructions- Open Firefox, select the Tools menu, and go down to Options at the very bottom. If you prefer keyboard shortcuts, you can also get there by pressing Alt+T to open the Tools menu, releasing the Alt key, and pressing O.
- Open the Main tab of the Options Window by clicking on it. It's the first one on the list--at the top right-hand corner of the window--and it may already be selected by default.
- A little farther down on the window, you should now see an Option button labeled "Save Files To". Click that Option button, and then observe the dropdown box next to it, which should indicate the location that downloaded files are currently saved to
- Click the Browse button and select a new folder to change the location that files should be downloaded to, and click OK. Finally, click OK again to exit the Options window. That's all there is to it!
