Lock IE Browser Hystory

Employers may want to lock Internet Explorer history so employees cannot erase the history before they can get a look at the history. The history tells you which web sites have been visited. You will have to edit the windows registry to lock this information.

  1. Click on the "Start" menu and choose "Run." Type "regedit" without quotes. Press "Enter."
  2. Find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel in the registry editor. You can use the search function to find this in the registry editor.
  3. Create a DWORD value called History by right clicking and choosing "New DWORD Value." Type "History" when it asks for the name.
  4. Double click on the "History" value you have created. Change the value from 0 to 1.
Tips and Warnings!!
  • Always backup your registry before changing it.
