Change Language Settings in Chrome


Google Chrome is a Web browser developed by Google. Because of its fast speed and reliability, many users choose Chrome over Internet Explorer.

This article explains how to change the default font and language settings for web pages in Google Chrome. Changing the font and language settings is useful when you would like to adjust the appearance of web pages.
Instructions
  1. Log in to your operating system user account.
     
  2. Left click the start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen to display the programs list.
     
  3. Left click on Google Chrome. Your browser should open and the Google Chrome homepage should display.
     
  4. Left click on the Tools option located at the top right side of the page. It's the box with the wrench inside it. The Tools drop down box should appear.
     
  5. Scroll down and left click on Options. The Google Chrome Options box should appear.At the top of the Google Chrome Options box should be 3 tabs to choose from. The tabs are Basics, Personal Stuff, and Under the Hood. Select the Under the Hood tab.
     
  6. Scroll down the Under the Hood tab and find the Web Content title. Left click the Change Font and Language Settings button. The Fonts and Languages box should appear. By default the Fonts and Encoding tab should be selected.
     
  7. Under Font the first option is Serif Font. To change this option left, click the Change button located next to the font display box and select the font you would like. The default selection should be Times New Roman, 16

    The second option is Sans-Serif font. To change this option left click the Change button located next to the font display box and select the font you would like. The default selection should be Arial, 16.

    The third option is Fixed-width Font. To change this option left click the Change button located next to the font display box and select the font you would like. The default selection should be Courier New, 13.
     
  8. Under the Encoding option is the Default Encoding selection. To change this option left click the down arrow button located next to the encoding type display box and select the encoding you would like. The default should be Western (ISO-8859-1).
     
  9. Next select the Languages tab located at the top of the Fonts and Languages box. This is where you have the option of adding additional languages to read a website. If you don't wont to add any languages you can skip steps 10 and 11. Otherwise list the languages you select in order of preference.
     
  10. To add a language left click the Add button located below the Remove button. The Languages box should appear.
     
  11. Next left click the down arrow button to display the available languages. Select the language you would like to add. Left click the OK button. Repeat this step until you have added the languages you would like to add.
     
  12. Next check or uncheck the Check spelling box depending on whether you would like to use check spelling.
     
  13. Next select the Spell-checker language. Click on the Spell-checker language down arrow box and make your selection. The default language should be English. If you do not want to change this option you can skip this step.
     
  14. Next select the language used in Google Chrome menus, dialog boxes, and tooltips. Click on the Google Chrome language down arrow box and make your selection. The default language should be English (United States). If you do not want to change this option you can skip this step.
     
  15. Click OK at the bottom of the Fonts and Languages box.
     
  16. Click Close at the bottom of the Google Chrome Options box.
You should now be able to change the default font and language settings for web pages in Google Chrome.
