Uninstall Internet Explorer

In the past, all new computers running Windows XP came with the Internet Explorer 6 web browser already installed on the system. Today, Microsoft recommends that all of its customers use the latest version of the program, Internet Explorer 7. If you own an older computer and want to upgrade to the newest version of Internet Explorer or switch to an entirely new web browser, you can uninstall Internet Explorer 6 from your computer.

This article will help you to uninstall Internet Explorer.

Instructions

  1. Open the Start menu and click on the "Control Panel" icon.

  2. Double-click on the "Add or Remove Programs" icon. A pop-up window will open with details about all of the programs currently installed on your computer.

  3. Click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button on the left side of the pop-up window.

  4. Uncheck the box next to "Internet Explorer" and click "Next." Then confirm your decision to uninstall the program. When the process finishes, Internet Explorer 6 will no longer appear on your computer. The installation process should take less than five minutes.
