Fix Internet Explorer Glitches
Internet Explorer is a Web browser that comes preinstalled with the Windows operating system. Internet Explorer glitches include slow browsing, frequent hanging or freezing, crashing and error messages stating that Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. These glitches can be frustrating and may also result in the loss of important information. Fortunately, the Windows operating system includes tools to fix these common glitches. The instructions below apply to the Internet Explorer 8.
Instructions
- Click on the "Start" menu and then click on "Control Panel."
- Click on "Find and Fix Problems" under System Security.
- Click on "Programs" and then click on "Internet Explorer Performance."
- Click "Next." The Windows operating system will detect and fix any problems associated with Internet Explorer. You may be asked to restart your computer.
Earlier Versions of Windows
- Go to the Microsoft Support: How to Reset Internet Explorer Settings page
- Click on the "Microsoft Fix It" icon.
- Click "Save" and then click "Run" in the File Download dialog box. The Windows operating system will automatically detect and fix any problems associated with Internet Explorer.
