Network With a Virtual PC

When a new virtual PC is created in VMWare, it is automatically configured to share the host computer's network connection. This allows you to use the Internet on the virtual machine as if it were connected directly to the Internet. However, if you download a pre-configured virtual machine image online, it may not be set up for networking. Configure networking on a VMWare virtual PC to allow it to get online using the host computer's network connection.

This article will help you to Network With a Virtual PC.

Instructions

  1. Launch VMWare Player. Click the virtual machine on the list on the left side of the window, then click "Edit virtual machine settings."

  2. Click the "Add" button at the bottom of the window if you do not see a device named "Network Adapter." Click "Network Adapter" on the hardware list, then click "Next." If a network adapter is present on the list already, click it.

  3. Click the radio button labeled "NAT." This allows the virtual network adapter to share an Internet connection with the host computer.

  4. Place a check in the box labeled "Connect at power on."

  5. Click "Finish" if you added a new network adapter, then click "OK." Click "OK" if you edited an existing network adapter.
