Setup a DSL Modem


A DSL Internet connection is great if you want fast, reliable access to the Internet. Not only is it easy to set up it is also easy to use. After just a few minutes of work you can be online and ready to download whatever you want at remarkable speeds.

Instructions

  1. Put phone line filters into all of the phone lines in your home not being used by the DSL. The filters should come with the modem if you purchased the modem from your phone company. If not, you may have to buy them yourself. You need them in order to be able to use your phone line to speak on the telephone with as well as run DSL.To install them, just plug the filter into the phone jack and put the phone cord into the filter.

  2. Plug your DSL modem into a power source. Turn it on. It should take a few moments to light up.

  3. Plug your DSL modem into the phone line. Make sure this phone line does not have a filter.

  4. Plug the Ethernet cable into your DSL modem and your computer's Ethernet port. Make sure your computer's Wi-Fi sensor is turned off.

  5. Go on the Internet with your computer's browser to test the system.
