Add More Panels to Opera 9.6 Speed Dial

Opera users no longer have to place all their favorite websites on the browser's tool bar. The Opera 9.6 Speed Dial allows Internet surfers to display multiple website thumbnails on a page that appears whenever they open a new tab. Opera 10.0 users can add additional Speed Dial panels via a customization menu. Opera 9.6 does not have this functionality. To add more Speed Dial panels to Opera 9.6, update its Speed Dial configuration file.

This article will help you to add more panels to Opera 9.6 speed dial.
Instructions
  1. Open Opera. Click "Help" and select "About Opera." A page will open that displays Opera settings information.
  2. Locate the string next to the label named "Opera Directory." This string contains the file path to the directory where Opera stores configuration files.
  3. Hold down the left mouse button and highlight the string. Right-click the string to select it and choose "Copy" from the context menu.
  4. Click the Windows "Start" menu and type "run." Then press "Enter." The Windows Run window will open.
  5. Right-click text box next to the word "Open" and select "Paste" from the context menu. Windows will paste the Opera file path that you selected into the text box.
  6. Click "OK" to close the window. Windows will open the Opera configuration folder.
  7. Locate speeddial.ini in the list of files. Right-click the file and select "Open With" from the context menu. You will see a list of applications. Locate Notepad in that list and double-click it. The speeddial.ini file will open in Notepad.
  8. Scroll to the bottom of the file and add the following text:

    [Size]

    Rows=4

    Columns=3

    This will create a Speed Dial with four rows and three columns. Change these values to larger numbers if you want to see more panels in Speed Dial.
